What happens to that rubbish?
- Created: 03 September 2013
Every year an estimated 17.5 billion plastic bags are given away by supermarkets. This is enough plastic to cover an area the size of London twice with a layer of bags.
Just think of that and just think of how much rubbish ends up being carried in all those 17.5 billion bags !!
This amount of bags could twice cover London, yes in a double layer of plastic. Now some Cities are adopting a policy that bags are now sold to every shopper in the hope that this will lead to a reduction in usage.
Obviously this charging may help but we all need to be aware of the fact and try and take a bag with us when we shop, just like the old days of shopping. Now if we all did that then we would be able to see our cities and not cover them up !!
