Few little facts about Kingston-upon-Thames
Kingston Upon Thames is situated in the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames. It was the ancient market town where 7 Saxon kings were crowned while seated on a large stone. The Coronation Stone that stand outside the guildhall. In old English tun, ton or don meant farmstead, so the name Kingston may have been thought to mean farmstead of the kings.
For much of 20th century, Kingston was a major military aircraft manufacturing center first with Sopwith, then Hawher Aviation and eventually British aerospace.
