Harlesden is an inner city ton in London Borough of Brent. Its main focal point is the Jubilee Clock which commemorates Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.
Though it is one of London's more deprived areas and has been portrayed as a crime center and named the murder capital of Britain as well as notorious for its Yardie gang culture where Jesse Jakson and Prince Charles visited due to its higher levels of crime.
In the 19th century, Harlesden lost its rurality and began to develop some of its urban appearance with the arrival of the railways.
Continued immigration from Ireland and new immigration from the Caribbean, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, radically changed the racial and cultural makeup of the area. The area has now become home to a Brazilian community and Portuguese community.
Harlesden has a rich culture of Boxing with two Olympic Gold medallists hailing from Harlesden, Audley Harrison who won gold in the super heavy weight division at Sydney in 2000 and James Degale who won gold in the middle weight division at Beijing in 2008.
